Cueva de Agua

Sunday - 16th October 2022

A circular walk from Canillas de Albaida. Leaving the plaza by the narrow street to the right of the church, the path arrives at the cemetery, where it drops down into the valley. Crossing the bridge you arrive at a sign indicating the route to Cueva de Agua. Good views of La Maroma in the distance.

The old mosque’s minaret, which is attached to the Church of Nuestra Señora de la Encarnación, is a 14th-century Almohad architectural jewel. This 15-metre-high red-brick square tower is the only Nasrid jewel that is preserved in the district. Designated a National Historic-Artistic Monument in 1979, it is considered one of the best examples of Almohad architecture that still stands.
